Guides, file specifications, and support information for clinics using the Ortho-Facial Planning portal.
Upload Guide
This guide walks through uploading scan files for a new case. Following this process ensures your submission is complete and can proceed to planning without delay.
- 1
Export your CBCT as DICOM
From your CBCT scanner or imaging software, export the full DICOM series. Ensure the export includes all axial slices — do not export as a single composite image.
- 2
Export intraoral scans as STL
Export upper and lower arch scans as separate STL files from your scanner software (Trios, iTero, Medit, or equivalent). Avoid merging both arches into a single file.
- 3
Check file sizes before uploading
DICOM series are typically 50–200 MB. STL files are usually under 50 MB per arch. Very large files may indicate an export error — check your scanner settings if file sizes are unexpectedly high.
- 4
Log in and start a new case
From your portal dashboard, select "Start a Case". Choose the surgery type, enter the patient reference, and proceed to the upload step.
- 5
Upload files through the portal
Use the file upload panel to add your DICOM and STL files. Files are uploaded securely over an encrypted connection. Progress is shown in the upload panel.
- 6
Add clinical notes and submit
Include any relevant surgical objectives or movement requirements in the clinical notes field. Review your submission and confirm to send the case to the planning team.
Cavendish Imaging cases
If your scans were acquired at Cavendish Imaging, they can be transferred directly to the portal without manual export. Contact the planning team prior to submission to arrange direct data transfer.
